Migrating Cognos Planning to TM1 (now known as IBM Planning Analytics)

With the advent of IBM Planning Analytics is now the time to consider a migration away from Cognos Planning?

With its graphical model building ability, virtually unlimited cube sizes, instant reporting without the need for a publish process and no synchronise or need to run a GTP, IBM has delivered on its roadmap promise to combine the best of both products into a single world beating solution.

You can even migrate your Manager and Contributor licenses across to Planning Analytics free of charge.

The IBM Cognos Planning Migration Assessment combines BSL's depth of knowledge of both product with our extensive experience gathering requirements and designing complex solutions. We will examine your existing Cognos Planning application to understand your requirements. With our in-depth knowledge of building solutions and conducting migrations, we will evaluate whether you should remain on Cognos Planning or migrate to Planning Analytics

These are just a few of our clients who have migrated their Cognos Planning applications to IBM Planning Analytics.

Our Migration Service

What our migration service offers is an initial free assessment of your existing Cognos Planning models and an overview of IBM Planning Analytics, comparing the functions and features of each product solution.

Using a workshop format we then explore the technical aspects of a migration, the risks and opportunities this entails  and the business benefits to be gained.  We will then produce an initial Migration Assessment Document which will include:

  • high level scope for the conversion project
  • estimate of resources required for this conversion
  • the degree to which the migration can be automated
  • the extent to which a redesign may be required

This document can be used to gain business approval for the project and form the basis of a project plan including training needs, resources and approximate timelines for the migration.
