TM1 Performance Modeler

IBM Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler is a new component for building planning and analysis models in the Cognos TM1 environment.  It provides a graphical user interface to make modeling more efficient and intuitive and all the existing powerful features of TM1 can be accessed from within Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler.

It represents the culmination of the IBM roadmap for performance management first laid out a number of years ago to combine the best functionality of Cognos Planning and Cognos TM1.

Performance Modeler enables model authors to create applications using drag and drop techniques more familiar to users of Cognos Planning.  There is then the ability to deploy these models to business users in a variety of ways also using simple drag and and drop techniques - something much harder to achieve in previous versions of TM1 and removing the need for the synchronise and GTP processes familiar to users of Cognos  Planning.

Inbuilt workflow or continuous planning processes are supported with instant analysis of the data available to Cognos Insight or Business Intelligence.

Performance Modeler

Highlights of Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler include:

  • Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler combines the new simpler user gestures with manually created cube rules and TurboIntegrator processes.
  • Users can work in teams and deploy models more quickly without requiring deep technical skills in Cognos TM1.

  • Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler links can be created between source and target cubes to relate the data stored in a source cube to the data in a target cube. Links can be implemented as either rules or processes.

  • Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler lets you navigate to dependent objects using hyperlinks in the properties pane.

  • You can create freeform folders in Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler and move objects between folders.

  • The default Dimensions, Cubes, and Links folder structures are available, or you can organize objects functionally, for example, with a folder for Common Objects, one for Budget, another for Forecast.
  • Security is applied only at the object level. You can add new users, add new groups, associate users with groups for all types of users, and assign capabilities.

  • Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler is launched from the IBM Cognos TM1 Applications portal.
